Distance Learning 18th-22nd January


Wow! I don’t know how else to say it. I have been blown away with the tremendous effort and work from Fourth and Fifth class over the past week. Ye are doing amazing and I am so proud of all the hard work and dedication you are showing with distance learning. It really is such a pleasure to login into Seesaw every day and see the work you are producing.

4th Class Reading: Watch video on Seesaw explaining Vocabulary based on “Kensuke’s Kingdom” and put each word into a sentence. This can be written or you can record yourself on Seesaw.

Read “Kensuke’s Kingdom” in Lets Go page 122-130.

(You may have read this before when reading the novel but reread to familiarize yourself with the text)

4th Class Reading: Complete Lets go page 132. C: Seek and Search, D Quest and Query

 

Writing: Watch video on Seesaw.

Choose a persuasive writing topic and do a quick plan of what you will include in each paragraph. Begin drafting your persuasive text and use the sheets in your poly pocket to help you.

Here are some ideas.

Should children be allowed to vote?

Is it our job to look after the Environment?

Does having more things make us happier?

Writing: Finish drafting your persuasive writing and then use your persuasive writing checklist to edit your work.

Upload the finished piece of writing to Seesaw.

English: Oral Debate with a person in your family (Some topics on Seesaw).

Spelling

Spelling: Continue with learning words tests until locked out at 96 words. If locked out work on blue dictation sentences. 10 minutes a day

Gaeilge

Gaeilge: Watch na habhair Scoile video on Seesaw. Record the new sentences in your oral copy.

Gaeilge: Bun go Barr read page 92-93. Answer questions on page 94 B1-10.

Complete the second worksheet on An Aimsir Fhaistíneach.

Maths:  Investigation. Find a selection of unopened food items in your press- tins of tomatoes etc.

Check does the weight on the package match the weight on your weighing scales. Why do you think this is?

Other Subject

STEM: Design and make a system to clean dirty water. See the website below for some practical ideas to help you.

Music: Play coming round the mountain on tin whistle or if you play a different instrument you can also play it on that.

Feel free to record yourself playing and upload or if you are working on any other piece of music I would love to hear that as well.
